I love About.com articles, and Mat Luebbers is easily my favorite ‘About’ author when the subject at hand is swimming. For those who are new to swimming, or triathlon training, I recommend reading Mat’s article, Swimming Workouts to Get Started Swimming, build up from zero to a 500-yard or meter swim; in it he succinctly offers eighteen progressive workouts that can enhance your strength and ability in the water.
